Book 40 of 2010: The Frenzy Way by Gregory Lamberson

Part horror, part police procedural, The Frenzy Way is a madcap ride of killings and chases as police captain Anthony Mace tries to hunt down a serial killer who appears to be of the wolf variety. It is unknown at first exactly who or “what” the killer is, and lots of investigations are made in order to determine what the police are facing. In addition, at each crime scene the killer leaves a calling card of sorts by writing words on the wall in various languages with the victim’s blood, and all of the words translate to “werewolf”. Also, it appears that the victim’s heads have been taken from each scene by the killer. Is he taking these as souvenirs for himself or using them for some other reason? This is one of many questions that Mace and his team must answer as they hunt down the killer.

As with all of Gregory Lamberson’s novels, The Frenzy Way is fast-paced and intense! The killer Lamberson has created is one of the best I’ve come across in a long-time. He’s sneaky, seductive, and scary as hell! Along with a great cast, The Frenzy Way also has numerous graphic scenes that all gore-hounds will love. Some of my favorite moments in the book were when a girl was having sex with the killer only to turn around and see a wolf behind them. I can only imagine the terror each of those victims faced at that moment. Additionally, several murder scenes were fleshed out in detail. None of the gore was overdone, as is the case in some novels where it’s just tossed in to gross-out the reader. Lamberson keeps the story flowing from beginning to end with the reader not able to stop turning the page due to the anticipation of what is next to come! The Frenzy Way would make a great addition to any library’s collection, whether it is a public library or a horror fanatic’s personal collection.

Book 45 of 2009: The Jake Helman Files #1: Personal Demons by Gregory Lamberson

Gregory Lamberson's new series, The Jake Helman Files, starts off with a detailed scene showing readers how the book's serial killer, The Cipher, operates. Readers are then introduced to the series' main character, Jake Helman, who works for the New York Special Homicide Task Force. After killing two men shortly into the book, Helman is required to take a drug test. Instead of following orders, Helman decides to take more drastic measures and quits. Less than 48 hours later, Helman receives a phone call from Tower International, a genetic engineering company, about an interview. He goes in that same day and is hired on the spot as their director of security for a salary that he never believed possible in his wildest dreams! After looking around the office a bit, though, he starts to notice some things seem to be a little odd. In particular, he is trying to figure out why strange homeless people are always hanging out right outside Tower International's doors, and why they look so much like The Cipher's victims.

At the beginning of Personal Demons, it appears that the book is going to be an average serial killer book (albeit with a really cool murder method!) where the bad guy goes around slicing each victim for whatever reason, but Lamberson changes that feel abruptly and takes the book to a whole other level! Once Jake Helman leaves the Force and takes on the new job at Tower International, he becomes a magnet for danger. All kinds of hell starts breaking loose, and Lamberson puts Helman through the wringer! It's a wild journey, and one that shouldn't be missed. I had a very hard time putting the book down once I started it. Highly recommended for all fans of the horror genre!

Book 51 of 2008: Johnny Gruesome by Gregory Lamberson

Book Description:

Johnny Grissom, aka "Johnny Gruesome," is a small town high school student with a passion for fast cars and loose women, served with a dash of sex, drugs, and head-banging rock 'n roll.

People think Johnny has a chip on his shoulder, but they haven't seen anything yet. When his murder by a drug dealer is made to look like an accident, Johnny returns from the grave as a vengeance crazed zombie.

With his over-the-top personality intact and the clock on his decomposing body ticking, "The Headbanger from Hell" vows to teach the residents of Red Hill the meaning of true fear.

Right after he watches his favorite horror movies one last time on DVD.

Book Trailer:

My Opinion:

I could NOT put this book down!!! Okay... I could, but only because I was forced to due to work and such, but other than that, I didn't... not even to drive. Seriously! This book was fabulous! The action in this book kept you wanting to read just to see what happened next. The only thing I was disappointed in from the book was that no one ever discovered the priest! I wanted to see the reactions to that one. There was another scene in the book that ALMOST happened that didn't that I am VERY thankful to Lamberson for, but I won't mention it here in order to avoid spoilers for those who have yet to read the book. This book was full of surprises and I can't wait to read more in the future by this author. This would make a great movie, yet I wouldn't watch it probably for two reasons... 1) it couldn't live up to the book and 2) it'd be sick as fuck!!!

MUST READ FOR ALL HORROR FANS!!!
